Marsch admits Leeds have not got enough out of Raphinha
Jesse Marsch has conceded that Leeds have not got enough out of Raphinha during his tenure at Elland Road, insisting that he is working on how to properly unlock the Brazilian – in comments reported by Leeds Live.
Leeds face three huge games to end the season. As things stand, they are in huge danger of falling back into the Championship. They fell into the bottom three for the first time since October on Sunday.
Of course, Marsch needs his key players to step up as they look to gain positive results against the likes of Chelsea, Brighton and Brentford. And no player has more potential as a game-changer than Raphinha.
The winger is Leeds’ top goalscorer, with 10 strikes to his name. However, he has not been on the best run in the last few months.
The 25-year-old has only scored twice since mid-December. And Marsch has suggested that getting more from the side’s talisman is going to be crucial as Leeds look to keep themselves up.
“First of all, I like Raphinha’s passion, his mentality, personality, desire to win and be a great player. He is a fantastic talent, we haven’t got enough out of him,” he said, as reported by Leeds Live.
“That’s the truth. We’ve tried to find ways to play with him a little bit wider, we’ve tried to find ways where he is in transition moments a little bit more, we’ve tried to find ways to get him around the goal more.”
Leeds have not got enough out of Raphinha
Raphinha is probably not helped by the fact that he is the most dangerous player in the squad. Certainly, Marsch has a number of players who work so hard. But the wide-man is a real difference maker.
So opposition sides know that keeping the Whites quiet could become considerably easier if Raphinha’s influence is minimal.
Raphinha still has the ability to cause problems for almost any side in the Premier League. And Leeds will desperately hope that he can rediscover his best form in the final three games.
It could make all the difference as they look to stay in the top-flight.
