Marquinhos was amongst the players to wish Luigi Gaspar well on Instagram after the 18-year-old confirmed that he had joined Watford following his decision to leave Arsenal this summer.
Gaspar may have caught some by surprise by choosing to leave the Emirates this year. Of course, the teenager is the son of the club’s technical director, Edu.

But, as noted by Fabrizio Romano back in June, the midfielder decided to move on to try and a new experience. He has however, not moved too far away with his next club.
Gaspar may not have had as many chances as he would have liked to work at London Colney with the Gunners. But he is going to get plenty of opportunities there moving forward, with Watford training next door to Mikel Arteta’s side.

He is not the first son of an Arsenal Invincible to join the Hornets either. Of course, Dennis Bergkamp’s son Mitchel spent time at Vicarage Road in 2021.
