Marquinhos appears to have lauded Granit Xhaka on Instagram after Arsenal secured yet another big win on Sunday to remain at the top of the Premier League table.

The Gunners perhaps produced one of their poorest displays of the campaign at Elland Road. Thankfully, Bukayo Saka scored the only goal in the first-half.

Mikel Arteta’s men certainly rode their luck against Leeds. The home side missed a penalty and had more than enough opportunities to turn the game around.

Arsenal were not themselves in the second-half. And Football London noted that Xhaka could not control his temper at one stage when Takehiro Tomiyasu did not take the opportunity to pass the ball forward.

But they got the job done. And it seems that Xhaka’s performance did impress one of his Arsenal teammates.

Xhaka took to Instagram and issued a very honest assessment of the game. In response, Marquinhos lauded the Swiss with a one-word reaction…

Xhaka was impressive in the first-half. The freedom he is currently playing with is brilliant to see. At one stage, he was, by some way, the furthest forward Arsenal player.

Arsenal will feel that they deserved the slice of luck they got at Leeds. They have been absolutely outstanding throughout the campaign.

And of course, it is often said that it is a hallmark of champions to keep winning when far from their best.

Xhaka’s story is perhaps the most remarkable in the current Arsenal squad. He has become a fan favourite after spending several years sharing an uneasy relationship with the supporters.

He is integral to the current side. And there is now absolutely no question that there is a title race on the cards.
