Marko Grujic valued at £20 by Liverpool with clubs reportedly interested
Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has been valued at £20m by the Premier League club heading into the transfer window.
The Liverpool Echo report that the Serbian international is expected to leave the club in the coming months.
Multiple clubs are keen on the midfielder. The report states that Grujic is ‘set to spark a bidding war’ this summer.
A career spent on loan
The former Red Star Belgrade player has spent the majority of his Liverpool career out on loan.
Grujic has made just two appearances for the Reds since joining in January 2016. The 25-year-old was Jurgen Klopp’s first signing as manager of the Merseyside club.
Grujic spent last season with Portuguese giants FC Porto, and the midfielder impressed with the Liga NOS side.
As per the Echo report, Sergio Conceicao’s side are eager to sign the Serbian on a permanent deal this summer. Other clubs are also keen on the midfielder.
Much-needed funds for Liverpool
Indeed, this summer is likely to see a number of Liverpool players leave the club.
Midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has already left the club following the expiration of his contract, and the likes of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri could also leave the Reds.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joel Matip could also head for the exit door in the transfer window.
Klopp has already been active in the transfer window, with Liverpool confirming the signing of RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate last month.
Marko Grujic has to leave Liverpool this summer
Grujic has fallen into the classic Premier League big-six trap of continuously going out on loan without hardly making a dent on the senior team.
And this summer, Liverpool have to ensure they move the Serbian on for the good of his career.
Indeed, the 25-year-old is at a part of his career where first-team football and stability comes over developing his craft.
Furthermore, the upcoming transfer window will be the perfect opportunity for Grujic to move on from Liverpool, as well, as the Merseyside club to bank a profit for the midfielder.
