Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic claimed on Instagram he is “absolutely delighted” after he completed a loan move to Portuguese giants Porto.
The 24-year-old has joined Porto on a season-long loan and will have the chance to play in the Champions League group stages with them, as well as be involved in a group aiming to win their domestic title.
He has played a part in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad during the opening stages of this campaign, which included him making two Carabao Cup appearances and even scoring in a win over Lincoln City.
The Serbia international moved to Anfield back in 2016, but has only played 16 first-team games for the Reds and has now left for his fourth loan spell away from Merseyside.
The central midfielder enjoyed the last two seasons developing with Hertha Berlin, scoring nine goals in 54 appearances for the German Bundesliga team.
Grujic posted on social media following his latest loan exit from Liverpool.
Grujic showed during pre-season and at the beginning of the season that he’s a classy central midfielder that is certainly improving, but unfortunately for him the Liverpool squad is currently overloaded with midfielders.
It makes sense for him to spend the year out on loan again and Porto look a good fit on paper.
If his performances continue to impress over the next year, it will be interesting to see if he can break into the Liverpool squad this time next year as a few of the options in the centre of the park are either starting to age or reaching the end of their contracts.
