Liverpool’s Marko Grujic has revealed he has headed back to Hertha Berlin because injuries limited him last season.
The midfielder will link up with the Bundesliga outfit again for the 2019/20 season, with the 23-year-old revealing both he and Jurgen Klopp decided it would be best for his development.

Last term Grujic made 22 Bundesliga appearances, and manager Pal Dardai called him the best midfielder at the club in the past 20 years (Bundesliga.com).
Unfortunately the Serbia international was hampered by ankle problems, meaning he made a total of only 23 appearances for the club.
Speaking about his return to Sport Bild, he said: “I was in Liverpool for a few days after last season, did some medical tests. We [Klopp and I] sat together and talked about my plans.

“My contract at Liverpool runs until 2023. We both saw it in a similar way: I only managed to make the most of 50 per cent of my opportunities in Berlin. Minor injuries knocked me back.
“It’s another reason why I didn’t want to leave. I have unfinished business at Hertha. He also found that it is better for my development to stay in the Bundesliga for another year.”
TBR’s view
Many felt that Grujic would be Fabinho’s backup for the 2019/20 season, but another loan move to Hertha is probably the right call.

With the former Red Star Belgrade ace under contract until 2023, there is plenty of time for him to become a valued member of the Liverpool first-team.
If he can have another season like last minus the injuries, then the talented enforcer surely stands a great chance of doing that.
