Mark Warburton says player linked with Leeds and Forest is likely to leave QPR

Mark Warburton has told QPR’s official website that he feels Massimo Luongo may leave the Championship side this season amid reported interest from both Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.

London Football News claimed last month that Leeds and Forest are interested in landing the 26-year-old ace, who clocked up 41 appearances for QPR last season and starred for the London-based side in what was a poor season.

Director of football Les Ferdinand then told Australian outlet World Game that all of QPR’s players are “up for sale” and that he expected Luongo to leave, with the report claiming QPR value the 42-time Australia cap at £3.9million.

Now, Warburton has claimed that Luongo could be sold by the club, and has stated that his side will be preparing for the loss of the ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Swindon Town maestro.

“Massimo has been a loyal servant of the club for the last four years and his passion and commitment for QPR has always been there for everyone to see out on the pitch,” Warburton said.

“Massimo’s future could now lie away from QPR and therefore it is important that we prepare for that potential eventuality.”

TBR’s view – Luongo would be excellent for Leeds or Forest

Luongo has proven over the last few seasons that he is one of the best ball-playing midfielders in the division, and he certainly deserves to be playing in a side better than finishing in 19th place.

Able to chip in with the odd goal or assist, Luongo would be an excellent addition at either side – and at £3.9million he would be an absolute bargain, especially as he would only improve by playing alongside better players.
