Mark Viduka identifies signing Leeds need to make

Mark Viduka has told TalkSPORT – as per Leeds Live – that he believes Leeds United to sign a player capable of threading through Patrick Bamford. Discussing Leeds and their form under Marcelo Bielsa over the last three years, Viduka thinks they are missing one thing. He wants a no.10 signed.

While Bielsa has mainstays in goal, at right-back, left-back, in holding midfield, on both wings and up front – he could not get the midfield right. Mateusz Klich and Pablo Hernandez started the season, while Stuart Dallas and Rodrigo ended it. Tyler Roberts was in the 10 role too.

Leeds icon Viduka, who scored 59 Premier League goals for Leeds, believes the Whites need a number 10. He thinks the thing that is stopping his old side from going one better in 2021-22 is the lack of a no.10. Hernandez, of course, has joined Spanish side Castellon.

“I would love to see them get a player who can play that final ball,” Viduka said. “I thought that was missing for them a lot last season. They had a lot of possession. [Patrick] Bamford had an unbelievable season. His finishing did wonders for the team butt hey need to add more in the final third.”

What no.10’s are Leeds keen on?

Rodrigo De Paul has broken the hearts of ambitious, optimistic Leeds fans by joining Atletico Madrid. Other options, then, include West Brom’s Matheus Pereira – who is likely to be on his bike after the Baggies suffered relegation. Matheus Cunha of Hertha Berlin is being strongly linked.

But Leeds have already spent north of £30million and while there is likely to be further additions – Leeds are hardly going to go mental. The Whites are expected to bring in 18-year-old Lewis Bate with a deal potentially announced on Wednesday evening, but he will link up with the Under-23’s.
