Mark Noble responds when asked if West Ham boss David Moyes deserves new deal

Mark Noble has responded when asked on TalkSPORT (Wednesday, 8.40am) about a potential new contract for West Ham United manager David Moyes – with the Scottish boss in the final year of his current deal.

Moyes rejoined West Ham after his previous spell with the Hammers in December 2019. He has steadied the ship and after an excellent start to the 2020-21 campaign, with West Ham now beginning to show a proper identity.

However, the former Manchester United and Everton manager only signed an 18-month deal with the Hammers when he was hired by the West Ham owners for a second time. It means his contract expires next summer.

TalkSPORT breakfast host Laura Woods asked Noble over whether Moyes would be offered a new contract to keep him at the London Stadium beyond the summer of 2021 – and Noble responded.

“I’ve not heard anything about a new deal, but we’ve got a great relationship,” Noble said. “We’ve had a good start. I think the club is settled under him, but he has just gone about his business. We are moving in the right direction.”

TBR’s view – Moyes more than deserving of a new deal

Surely, he has finally done enough to win over the owners and prove that he can take the Hammers forward long-term – rather than just being the manager the Hammers turn to, to steady the ship in the short term.

Moyes has added identity, attacking threat and his new signings have done well. Jarrod Bowed, Vladimir Coufal, Tomas Soucek and more have impressed, while Said Benrahma is a big coup for the Hammers.

He deserves a new deal but with West Ham’s owners, anything is possible.
