Mark Lawrenson ‘worried’ about Liverpool’s chances of beating Tottenham on Sunday

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has given his verdict on his old club’s chances of beating Tottenham this Sunday.

On the back of a 1-1 draw against bitter rivals Manchester United last season, Lawrenson sees the same result when the full time whistle blows at Anfield in two days time.

As per BBC, he said: “It is a tricky fixture for Liverpool to negotiate. In the past few seasons, the Reds always know they are going to get a game against Spurs. Their last visit here, was an example. Spurs had been the better team in the second half.

“Nobody is expecting that to be the case this time but they have got it in them to spring a shock. They have got some really potent attacking players and it would not surprise me if they are close to their best again. At the same time, I am a little bit worried that if Liverpool are below their best again, they might slip up. 1-1.”

TBR’s View – Tottenham should have built some confidence but Liverpool’s home form is something else

Tottenham needed a big win and they got it in midweek, beating Red Star 5-0 in the Champions League. But Liverpool also recovered from their Old Trafford blip, thumping Genk 4-1 to offer a much-needed boost to their own European away record.

Last season’s Premier League match at Anfield was close – and Moussa Sissoko had a golden chance to win it before Toby Alderweireld’s own goal – but Liverpool’s home form is something else.

They keep finding a way to win, especially on their own patch, and a draw appears to be a cautious prediction from Lawrenson.
