Mark Lawrenson has told Off The Ball that while Tottenham might look to axe Nuno Espirito Santo, he questions who they could replace him with.
Nuno’s future is already coming under scrutiny after three straight Premier League defeats. The latter of which came at the hands of Arsenal.
Spurs were completely outclassed in the North London derby as Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 half-time lead. Son Heung-min scored a consolation.
Since the full-time whistle, Nuno has been heavily criticised for his tactics. The midfield left gaping holes, and the attackers failed to hold the ball up.
Asked if Nuno has much of a future as Spurs boss, Lawrenson replied by saying that if they did get rid of Nuno – who would replace him?

“Put it this way, where would you go and who would you get? Levy is ruthless, you can’t jettison him,” Lawrenson told Off The Ball.
“They look awful defensively, they have done for ages. They’re easy to get at. Who would you get, if you sack Nuno? Don’t give me Sam Allardyce.”
Lawrenson on Nuno: Viable candidates if Tottenham wield axe
Most applicable candidates are in jobs and will hardly want to leave their current clubs just six games into a new season.
Managers will be aware that they can only really stamp their authority on a side with a full pre-season. We are as far away from that as you can be.
So, if Tottenham were to replace Nuno, they would have to go for an out-of-work manager. The best current options include Antonio Conte.
Of course, Spurs tried to get him in the summer – before Nuno. But a move fell through. Potentially, Spurs could revisit a move for the Italian.
Paulo Fonseca is also available. Spurs icon Jurgen Klinsmann, ex-Barcelona gaffer Ernesto Valverde and even Frank Lampard could be an option.
