Mark Lawrenson backs Leeds to see off Fulham at Elland Road this weekend

BBC pundit and former Liverpool defender, Mark Lawrenson, has backed Leeds to get back to winning ways when they take on Fulham this evening.

The Whites head into the game having struggled in front of goal for the last few games. Patrick Bamford is also carrying a knock, although Marcelo Bielsa says he is expected to be fit for the trip to Craven Cottage.

Fulham have also improved of late and are now within touching distance of climbing out of the bottom three. Indeed, a win against Leeds tonight will see them leapfrog Newcastle United.

But Lawrenson, speaking for the BBC with his usual predictions slot, believes Leeds will come roaring back this evening.

“Leeds haven’t won – or scored – for a little while now, three games to be exact, which is very unlike them. That’s why I worry for Fulham a bit here, despite Scott Parker’s side being in much better form,” Lawro said.

“Back in September, we were finding out what Leeds were like in the top flight – they won 4-3, after losing to Liverpool by the same scoreline the previous weekend. Fulham were like a different side then, and leaked a lot of goals. They have tightened up a lot since then, but I am expecting Leeds to start firing again here.”

Lawrenson tips Leeds to run out 2-0 winners, getting their season back on track somewhat as we head into the international break.

TBR View: Leeds have the right tools but Fulham a different animal now

Like most games with Leeds, you feel if they get the lead then they’ll run out winners. That’s because teams have to come out a bit more and it works perfectly for their Whites and their counter attacks.

Fulham will provide a stern test tonight. Gone are the days of them leaking goals left, right and centre. Scott Parker will fancy his chances but Leeds, especially if Bamford is fit, will be confident they have enough.
