'Probably win the game': TalkSPORT pundit slams Klopp for one big Liverpool call at Fulham today

TalkSPORT’s Mark Goldbridge has been raving about Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez this afternoon, after the Reds drew with Fulham today.

The Reds dropped what could already be massive points as newly-promoted Fulham twice went ahead only to see Nunez and Mo Salah level things up for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Of course, the big talking point was Klopp’s decision to not play Nunez and start Bobby Firmino. The German opted for the tried and tested Firmino, but the Brazilian did little of note. And according to famed Manchester United fan and TalkSPORT pundit Goldbridge, Liverpool got it wrong not playing Nunez.

“I think the big thing for Liverpool was, should they have started Darwin Nunez. I saw him in the Community Shield and I actually wanted him to come to Manchester United,” Goldbridge said on his TalkSPORT show.

“I like this player. I think he’s a magnet for chances. He came and in ten minutes he should have scored two goals, he scored one, but should have scored two. He makes things happen. I just think that Firmino is yesterday’s news and Nunez, you probably win that game if you start him. I think Liverpool missed a trick. Liverpool should have started Darwin Nunez.”

TBR’s View: Nunez Will Start For Liverpool Now

Goldbridge makes a good point here. Forget sticking to what you know, after spending more than £60m on a new striker who has already scored his first goal, Klopp should have played Nunez today.

The Uruguayan showed his class when he entered the fray and it’s obvious this is a player who will go on and score loads of goals for Liverpool.

For Liverpool, dropping points on the opening day was not in the script and Manchester City will already be sniffing blood, despite it being just a single game into the season.
