Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall will miss Everton’s clash with Crystal Palace next weekend due to a suspension, and Mark Clattenburg has told TBR Football why he should be fuming.
Dewsbury-Hall has made a promising start to life on Merseyside, but after just six Premier League appearances, he already has five yellow cards.
However, his last two bookings for Everton have proven to be rather controversial talking points and will hugely frustrate David Moyes.
The Toffees boss will now have to face a tough task against Palace without one of his key midfielders, and Clattenburg suggests that shouldn’t have been the case.

Exclusive: Mark Clattenburg says Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall should be fuming at suspension
Mark Clattenburg says Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall should be fuming at his one-match suspension after picking up a fifth booking of the season against West Ham.
The former Premier League referee understood Samuel Barrott’s judgment to show the Everton star a yellow card against the Hammers, but suggested the official could have actually played on.
Everton’s midfielder was seen to be absolutely livid with Barrott’s decision to book him, suggesting that he won the ball and Clattenburg agrees.
The midfielder was also shown a controversial yellow card in the Merseyside derby last week, and Clattenburg found the decision to book Dewsbury-Hall ‘strange’.
Clattenburg told TBR Football: “Dewsbury-Hall was given his fifth yellow card for a late tackle on Kyle Walker-Peters. I can understand the referee’s judgment as Dewsbury-Hall goes into the tackle with some speed, catching his opponent on the foot after playing the ball.
“Once the referee awards a foul, a penalty should have been awarded as the challenge was on the line of the penalty area. Personally, I think the referee could have played on as he plays the ball and his foot accidentally hits his opponent’s foot in the follow-through.
“Dewsbury-Hall can be disappointed that he will get a one-match suspension for his fifth yellow card. This disappointment was even made worse when, in the last week, he was given a yellow card late in the match against Liverpool for taking a quick free kick, which I believe the referee could have managed in a better way. You cannot appeal yellow cards, so you will miss this weekend’s match.”
Tyler Dibling now deserves his first Everton start in the Premier League
Dewsbury-Hall’s suspension now presents Moyes with the chance to hand Tyler Dibling his first Premier League start for Everton.
Everton paid £42.5m to sign Dibling over the summer, and so far, he has made just one start, which came in the EFL Cup.
The Toffees could set up by moving Jack Grealish into the middle, Illman Ndiaye out to the left and Dibling starting on the right.
Now is the time for the 19-year-old to be given his chance and show why he was in such high demand during the last transfer window.
