Mark Bosnich has told Sky Sports News (8.30Am, Monday) that he believes Morgan Sanson is an excellent signing by Aston Villa – but does not expect the Midlands club to make any more additions before Monday’s 11pm deadline.

Sanson, 26, has completed a £14million move to Villa from Andre Villas-Boas’ Marseille – penning a four-and-a-half-year deal until the summer of 2025. He comes to Villa having played 157 times for Marseille, having a hand in 47 goals.

Touted with a call-up to the France squad in recent months, Sanson joins an exciting Villa side and adds competition in midfield – with Conor Hourihane joining Swansea. Douglas Luiz, John McGinn and Ross Barkley are first choice right now.

Speaking to SSN, former Villa goalkeeper Bosnich raved about the addition of Sanson and thinks the Frenchman will be a good signing for Dean Smith’s side – but does not expect Smith and Villa to make any more signings on deadline day.

“No I’m not expecting any more signings,” Bosnich said. “Sanson is a fantastic signing, anyone that has seen Marseille play will know what a good player he is. It shows Villa’s ambition – they’ve been fantastic this season.”

TBR’s view – Sanson gives Villa a European quality

We have seen it with Villa’s recent business. Bertrand Traore was part of the Lyon side that reached last season’s semi-finals. Sanson has played in all six of Marseille’s Champions League group games this season.

Ross Barkley, Emi Martinez and more. Villa’s recent signings have all played in European football of late – and it is clear what Smith is trying to do. If Vills do qualify for Europe, then they will be more than prepared.
