Marcos Llorente’s agent has told Spanish outlet Cadena Ser that he has fielded numerous calls from Liverpool over a possible move for the midfielder – but also stated that Llorente wants to remain at Atletico Madrid.
Llorente, 25, only joined Atletico in the summer of 2019 for a fee of £35million (Standard). The one-time Spain international has since become integral for Diego Simeone’s side, clocking up 51 appearances – having a hand in 18 goals during that time.
His best moment arguably came at Anfield. With the two sides going into extra time last term, Llorente scored twice to send Atletico’s side into the next round – leaving Liverpool in his wake. AS claim Llorente has since named his dog ‘Anfield’.
But despite his goals and pet names following that night, Llorente’s agent Julio – his uncle and agent – has confirmed that Liverpool have been in contact of late. But stated that Llorente is to remain at Atletico, with the last enquiry coming in May.
“I have received many calls from Anfield for Llorente, but not many dare either. Marcos and I have always talked about this and he wants to stay, so there’s not much to do,” Julio told Cadena Ser. “The last call I received in May and it was not from Spain.”

TBR’s view – Llorente would be a stunning Wijnaldum replacement
There are not many midfielders that fit the Liverpool blue print. Hard-working and boasting lung-busting stamina, the ability to offer creativity and score goals from nothing, but also defensively instinctive. Gini Wijnaldum is perfect.
But the Dutchman is set to leave at the end of the season and if he does not sign a new contract, then the Reds will need to bring in a replacement. Llorente would be ideal – given he boasts all the traits of Wijnaldum, just at the age of 25.
