Marco Silva has promised to support Everton new-boy Jean-Philippe Gbamin following an injury setback early in his Everton career.

As per the Toffees’ official website, Silva said everyone at the club will rally around the new midfielder after he was ruled out for a minimum of eight weeks with a quad injury.

He said: “It is really important that we support JP. We have to be there in the bad moments. It is a tough moment for him. It is up to us to give him all the support we can.

“I am 100 per cent involved in the process. He will see many of our matches. He will be present when we analyse with his teammates, when analyse our opponents and what we should do in our games. He will be present in all those moments and they will be chances for him to learn.”

TBR’s View – Delph has a major role to play in Gbamin’s absence

Gbamin was seemingly bought as Everton’s direct replacement for the departed Idrissa Gueye, but he will be unable to properly take up that role for months now.

That means that Fabian Delph, perhaps bought a bit more for his versatility and experience in the dressing room, will likely step into the breach.

There are early signs of a growing relationship with Andre Gomes in the heart of midfield and if that continues, it would take the pressure off Gbamin to rush back.
