Marco Silva has been discussing how summer signing Moise Kean reacted to being left out of the Everton squad for this weekend’s clash with Southampton.
The Italian international travelled to the South Coast with Everton but was left out of the matchday 18, with in-form youngster Anthony Gordon included instead.
“Yeah. [His reaction was] really good. For sure, he will react stronger the next training sessions when he will be with us.
“Moise is working really hard. He is a young boy with a very good quality as well, doing his best to adapt as fast as we can to a different football as well.
“He has all of my support and my staff and his team-mates to keep growing. For sure he will do that and in some weeks and some months you will see Moise in a better level for sure.”
There is no doubt that, so far, Kean has struggled to settle into life at Goodison Park. The 19-year-old has failed to score in his 11 appearances for Everton so far and now appears to be behind Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and Cenk Tosun in the striking pecking order.
Plenty of Everton fans do feel that Silva has not been utilising Kean effectively and suggesting that as a reason for his early struggles.
Hopefully, the decision to drop the teenager does not backfire and end up causing damage to his confidence and can instead inspire him to find his best form.
If that ends up being the case, then Silva should be congratulated for his tough decision. If it does backfire, then the Portuguese has wasted an incredible talent for Everton.
