Marcelo Bielsa has claimed that Diego Llorente has had no bad games since joining Leeds United, insisting that he has got better every time he has played – in comments reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

It has been a turbulent season for Llorente at Elland Road. He did not manage to make his third appearance for the club until late February after a couple of failed attempts to come back from injury.

But since then, the Spaniard has been a colossus at the heart of the Leeds backline. And his best display yet arguably came at the weekend as the Whites stunned Manchester City.

Following that game, Bielsa outlined just how impressed he has been by Llorente.

“He’s played well,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post. “He hasn’t had any bad games.

“He’s had a performance level that has improved every time he has played. He started playing well and has been playing better each time.”

It did appear that some supporters were starting to fear that the club may rue signing the 27-year-old in the summer.

Llorente could not catch a break during his first few months in Yorkshire. And the fact that there was almost two months between his first two appearances for the club was alarming.

But Llorente now looks to be a first-choice centre-back for Bielsa’s men. And it would be a huge boost for Leeds if he can continue to improve from here ahead of his first full pre-season at Thorp Arch.
