Marcelo Bielsa shares what worries him at Leeds
Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that Leeds United scoring just seven goals is a worry for him, but insisted that it is not only down to Patrick Bamford to contribute – in comments reported by Leeds Live.
The Whites were one of the Premier League’s highest scorers last season. In fact, they managed more in the top flight than Champions League winners Chelsea.
This time around, only six sides have scored fewer. And Raphinha is the only member of Bielsa’s squad to have scored more than once.
Their hopes of finding the back of the net more often have not been helped by Bamford sustaining an injury and missing their last two games.
Bielsa suggested that it is a concern that they have not finished more of their opportunities. But he hinted that there is more to come from the Whites once again.
“We construct our offensive game in a collective manner, of course having a player that converts the chances increases the possibility of getting more goals,” he said, as reported by Leeds Live.
“You asked me if it worries me, I say yes. I would like that we create more chances at goal and increase the efficiency, both things have a margin for improvement and of course if Patrick were here, we would enjoy the contribution that he makes.”
Leeds will always create the chances to spark season into life amid Bielsa concerns
Leeds’ first win of the season came against Watford last time out. It finished 1-0. But the Whites had the chances to blow the Hornets away.
That should leave supporters with reason for encouragement. They are creating the opportunities to tear teams apart.
At some point, it will click a lot more often. And once Leeds are playing with confidence, some teams will definitely struggle to stop them.
They have the belief in the style that they adopt. And a couple more wins could see Leeds fully put their underwhelming start to the campaign behind them before too long.
