Marcelo Bielsa responds sharply to reports about his Leeds United future

Marcelo Bielsa has told his pre-Liverpool press conference – as per Leeds Live – that reports suggesting he is about to sign a two-year contract at Elland Road are inaccurate, previously stating he will make a decision in the summer.

Bielsa, 65, is out of contract this summer. However, Leeds and the club’s fans are not concerned having seen Bielsa sign 12-month deals in the summer of 2019 and then again last summer, just says before the game against Liverpool.

Argentine outlet La Nacion reported earlier this month, to the delight of Leeds fans, that Bielsa was on the verge of penning a two-year deal at Elland Road. However, it appears that those reports might be premature.

The Leeds manager responded to questions about the report from his home country and made it clear that the informational was fake. He also stated that if there was any news to give regarding his future, he would tell the press.

“That information is not real. I ignore the origin. Those things, either the club can say or I can say it, we possess the information. In all cases, if there was any info to give, I would give it,” Bielsa said.

TBR’s view – Leeds fans should not panic

In recent press conferences, and in history, Bielsa has made it clear that he likes to wait until the end of the season and then if he wants to stay – he will sign a new contract. But at Leeds, he seems like he is at home.

Indeed, he has also stated that if owner Andrea Radrizzani needs an answer about his future sooner than the summer, then he will give him one. He has even stated he sees the rest of his managerial career at Elland Road.
