Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has been singing the praises of his midfield dynamo Kalvin Phillips. Leeds United lost their first game of the Championship season yesterday, with Swansea City snatching a late winner at Elland Road.
It was a game in which Phillips had to fight on after picking up an injury and he was praised by Bielsa for his ‘brave’ display, as reported by Leeds Live.

The Argentine also confirmed that he will now hope to use the international break to let Phillips and others recover from injury problems.
“He is a very brave player. After his problem all of the kicks he received he never put his level down. In the moment when we were thinking of subs, he returned to the game and was ready to continue playing the game.
“It’s going to be a long period for us, we have a lot of players who are not going to be involved in this period, we are going to try and recover some of the players with problems – (Stuart) Dallas, Phillips and (Adam) Forshaw.”
Leeds United will undoubtedly hope that Phillips can rest up and recover from the injury trouble over the international break.
The midfielder, who was linked with big-money moves to the Premier League throughout the summer, is key to Leeds’ success under Bielsa and his absence would be a big blow to the club going forward.
Considering that the midfield maestro managed to play on through the injury would suggest he will be recovered in time for Leeds’ game with Barnsley in two weeks time.
