Marcelo Bielsa makes Stuart Dallas prediction

Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that Stuart Dallas has not been at the same level of last season, but insisted in his press conference that the Leeds United star will get back to his best.

What’s the story?

Dallas was arguably the biggest revelation in the Whites’ squad in their first year back in the Premier League.

The Northern Irishman scored eight times, with the highlight, of course, coming when he scored twice in the 2-1 win over Manchester City.

Unfortunately, he is yet to find that form so far this term. Bielsa has confirmed that he has not the same heights so far.

But the Leeds boss made a prediction that supporters will absolutely love.

“His performances have not been at the same level as last year,” he said in his press conference.

“But there are reasons to understand why it’s not that way. And every game he plays, he plays a little bit better than the previous one.

“I have every confidence that this Saturday, or the following Saturday, or in a short space of time, he’s going to come back to his high level. It’s not that I have confidence, it’s that I’m sure of it.”

Dallas entitled to dip after stunning two years with Leeds

It is easy to forget that Dallas was not one of those who immediately benefitted from Bielsa’s arrival at Elland Road.

He actually only made 12 starts in the Championship in the Argentine’s first season.

In fact, the turning point arguably came in their final game of the campaign when he almost single-handedly dragged Leeds to the play-off final.

Since then, he has been absolutely outstanding. Remarkably, his most prolific season since arriving in England came in his first year in the top flight.

Dallas has also been moved around in the opening weeks of the season. And it may be completely unrelated, but it perhaps cannot be overlooked that he withdrew from Northern Ireland duty during the last international break due to personal reasons.

Bielsa clearly thinks however, that the turnaround is just around the corner.
