Marcelo Bielsa has admitted – in comments reported by Leeds Live – that Stuart Dallas has shown a side of his game this season that even the Leeds United boss had little idea he possessed.

Dallas is well on his way to being named as Leeds’s Player of the Season. The 29-year-old has been outstanding throughout the campaign to help the Whites ensure that they will be in the Premier League once again next year.

And there is no question what the highlight of the campaign will be for the Northern Irishman. Dallas scored twice to inspire Leeds to a dramatic 2-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday.

Remarkably, the brace takes Dallas’s tally for this season to seven. And Bielsa suggested that he has completely exceeded any expectations ahead of this campaign.

“He’s a player whose game is based a lot on generosity,” he said, as reported by Leeds Live. “He is a player who helps all his team-mates to recover the ball and to not lose it. And the goal gives a lot of shine to whoever manages to score it.

“For him to have scored two goals is normally an anomaly. It’s deserved, it’s comforting, it’s good. And this year has allowed Dallas to show a part of himself that we didn’t know he had.”

It is incredible to see how influential Dallas has been. He was a player who looked to be really struggling under the likes of Garry Monk and Thomas Christiansen.

And it was only during the latter stages of Bielsa’s first season that he became a more prominent member of the side.

Since then however, Dallas has started all but one of their league games. And it is surely going to take something special to wrestle the Player of the Season award off him.
