Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has suggested that the ball is very much in Ezgjan Alioski’s court when it comes to him signing a new deal at Elland Road.

The £15,00-a-week left-footer is out of contract with the Whites at the end of the season.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post this week, the Whites are hopeful of the 28-year-old agreeing a new contract with them to extend his stay.

But it’s perhaps concerning that the Athletic claimed back in November that talks had started over a contract extension.

Bielsa was asked today about Alioski’s contract situation and explained the most important thing is what the player wants.

The North Macedonia international has been an important player in the Premier League this season for Leeds, but supporters are still waiting to hear the outcome of his future.

“I’m only one opinion in regards to the equation or evaluation if Alioski stays or not,” Bielsa said, as quoted by Leeds Live.

“I think when it comes to a player staying at a club the most important thing is if the player wants to stay. The player should chose the club and after the club will decide if they want him.

“But the main condition, the most important thing is the player wanting to stay. I think if Alioski chooses Leeds, Leeds will choose Alioski.”

Alioski, 28, is someone that’s a great option in the squad and keeping him around the place would be a success.

He’s a versatile star that has mainly played at left-back this season, but can play further forward on the wings if required.

The all-action full-back is a real favourite with supporters due to his work-rate, aggressiveness and passion, plus his versatility makes him ideal for Bielsa’s squad.

He’s scored three goals in 19 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
