Marcelo Bielsa lauds Leeds loanee Ben White after Millwall defeat

Marcelo Bielsa has suggested, in comments reported by Leeds Live, that Ben White has to be considered amongst the best players given the Leeds United loanee’s ability to take risks and not make mistakes.

White’s stock continues to rise during his time at Elland Road. Despite Leeds falling to their third defeat of the season at Millwall on Saturday, many felt that the Brighton man was the best player on the pitch.

The centre-back was composed on the ball and dealt with Gaetano Berardi’s dismissal and Luke Ayling moving alongside him brilliantly.

And Bielsa was full of praise for White’s performance and suggested that he is capable of something that many others simply cannot do.

“He’s a great player,” he said, as reported by Leeds Live. “He takes risks and he doesn’t make mistakes. That is the most difficult thing in football.

“It’s easy when you don’t risk the ball. It’s normal, when you risk the ball, you have some mistakes, but the best players risk and don’t make mistakes. Everything seems White is in this band.”

White has been an outstanding signing for Leeds. While the Elland Road faithful continue to have – arguably justifiable – complaints about the lack of depth at the heart of the defence, they appear to be very happy with Pontus Jansson being replaced by White alongside Liam Cooper.

The youngster’s future definitely looks to be in the Premier League. So Leeds need to make the most of him while he is with the Whites as they may struggle to find an adequate replacement should they fail to get promoted.
