Marcelo Bielsa has told his latest press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash between Leeds United and Brighton – as per Leeds Live – and he has raved about Seagulls midfielder Yves Bissouma having worked with the African ace at French side Lille.
Leeds take on Brighton this weekend, as the Whites look to go seven games unbeaten in the Premier League – but also look to get revenge on Brighton who beat Leeds 1-0 at Elland Road earlier this season. Bissouma has stood out for Brighton this term.
The midfielder, who left Lille in the summer of 2018 to join Brighton for £15million, has caught the eye this season in what is his third year in English football. The Athletic have claimed that plenty want Bissouma, including Liverpool and Arsenal.
The report says Bissouma is rated at £40million and Bielsa has handed some rare praise in his direction. The Argentine is not renowned for his praise of other team’s players – but Bissouma has earned the plaudits of the ex-Lille manager.
“Was a great player and he has confirmed it,” Bielsa said. “It’s not the same to have potential and to show it. When worked with him he had a lot of resources – he has shown them completely. He has gained recognition due to his resources.”

TBR’s view – How can Leeds get the better of Bissouma?
Bissouma is renowned for his work rate, his passing and his ability to offer a screen in front of the Brighton defence. Comparisons have been made with the likes of Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante – and Leeds will have a job to get the better of him.
Tyler Roberts is expected to start in attacking midfield and getting on the ball and continually moving to occupy Bissouma will help Leeds overrun Brighton in the middle of the park. Get the better of Bissouma, and Leeds will win down south.
