Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that Tyler Roberts did make an error while away on international duty, but suggested that he plans to take no action against the Leeds United starlet himself – in comments reported by Leeds Live.

Roberts was sent home early during the break. As noted by BBC Sport, the forward and two Wales teammates breached protocols. The Leeds youngster made a swift apology for the incident.

Leeds fans may have been intrigued to see what Bielsa may make of the situation.

Of course, he was away with Wales rather than with the Whites squad. However, Bielsa would have surely been disappointed to hear the news, too.

He was asked about the 22-year-old ahead of Leeds’s return to action. And he did suggest that he let himself down – but insisted that he can learn from what happened.

“Any player that doesn’t adhere to the rules, having accepted them, commits an error,” he said, as reported by Leeds Live. “Errors always have consequences. Some of them are positive. To not repeat the same mistakes again and others have worse consequences as they sanction you for your mistakes.

“Tyler’s a player who’s close to abandoning that position of lack of experience for a player which is a way of understanding some of the behavioural mistakes he has made. Surely this will help him to not make mistakes which are not convenient.”

The most frustrating aspect for Leeds supporters will surely be that this incident comes after Roberts had enjoyed such a good run in the team in the weeks leading up to the break.

He was outstanding against Chelsea. And there were glimpses of his quality in several other games.

Leeds will be hoping that they ultimately benefit from the incident. Roberts now goes into the coming weeks with a point to prove having recently looked as though he had started to turn the corner on the pitch.
