Marcelo Bielsa claims Leeds star has qualities like the Premier League’s best forwards
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has given a positive assessment of Patrick Bamford in his weekly press conference.
Whites boss Bielsa, who is renowned for his in-depth answers in press conferences, has given a long verdict on the club’s centre-forward Bamford.
As part of his answer, Bielsa claimed that the 27-year-old has qualities just like some of the very best forward in the Premier League.
“Bamford has qualities like the best strikers in the Premier League, but the qualities in football, they are just the starting point…” Bielsa said, as quoted by Leeds Live.
“Bamford is a very, very dedicated professional. He is a player who analyses the best goalscorers in the world in detail, in the English league, in the German league, in the French league, the best ones.”
Bamford is enjoying a strong individual season at Elland Road, with his 14 goals placing him sixth in the Premier League’s golden boot race.
The £35,000-a-week (Spotrac) left-footer is currently only behind Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah, Bruno Fernandes, Heung-Min Son and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the scoring charts.
If you had predicted at the start of the season that Bamford would be sixth in the league’s golden boot race come May, you wouldn’t have found too many Leeds fans agree with you.
However, the English forward has been an ever-present in Bielsa’s XI this campaign, and made a massive impact during the club’s return to the top flight.
His return of 14 goals and eight assists in the league indicates the kind of impact he has at Elland Road. Not only is he’s someone that will get himself in clever positions to score, but he runs flat out for 90 minutes with so much movement out of possession.
