Leeds United host Millwall on Saturday in the Championship and manager Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed in his pre-match press conference that midfielder Adam Forshaw is back in contention.

The 27-year-old hasn’t tasted league action since 2 February due to an injury problem, but is now back available for selection at the weekend.

He was an ever-present in the side before his setback and now has the task of breaking back into the XI.

Bielsa confirmed that Forshaw is ready for the Millwall clash, while he also noted that the central midfielder looked the best player back in pre-season.

“Forshaw was the best player in pre-season. Ronaldo [Vieira] was a talented young player in the club. [Lewis] Baker was the new solution for this position,” Bielsa said in his press conference, as cited by Leeds Live.

“Before that, I thought about moving Klich out because he would be fourth choice.”

TBR’s View:

It seems like Leeds are finally catching a break at a crucial part of the season when it comes to injuries, as they are getting close to a full squad and they need it to try get over the line for automatic promotion.

They have to cut the one-point gap to Sheffield United in second, but the return of Forshaw in the centre of the park should be a boost.

Forshaw is one of the more experienced heads at Elland Road that knows what it takes in a promotion bid and having a fresh pair of legs in midfield is a major boost.

It’s interesting to hear he looked the best midfield in pre-season and thankfully for Leeds Mateusz Klich didn’t exit despite not initially being in Bielsa’s plans.
