Wolverhampton Wanderers are said to be considering a move for China attacker Wu Lei this summer. The newly-promoted side are said to be keen on the Shanghai SIPG forward, who can play out wide or through the middle.
The 26-year-old, who is his club’s record goalscorer and appearance maker, is being eyed as a potential alternative to the difficult to acquire Adama Traore of Middlesbrough – according to the Express and Star.

Lei is certainly a star in his Chinese homeland, but is perhaps not as well known in Europe. With that in mind, finding the opinion of those respected on the continent can help gauge whether Lei is a good target for Wolves.
One man who knows him well is China national team manager Marcello Lippi. The Italian, who has managed Juventus to Champions League glory and won the World Cup as Italian manager in 2012, picks Lei regularly for his current role. Lippi is now the head coach of Shina, with Lei an important part of the squad.
“In today’s game Wu Lei had a chance but unfortunately missed. But Wu has been performing very well lately, no matter whether it is in the league or with the national team.
“I’m very satisfied with his performance. His effort on the pitch was clear to all and he always creates opportunities at key moments.”
Lippi has only had kind words to say about Lei in the past and his footballing opinion is among the best in the world.
Wolves will hope Lei can live up to such a testament should he head to England this summer.
