Marcel Brands to Everton not done, according to Dutch reports

Dutch media believe there is still a long way to go before Everton complete a deal for Brands.

Everton have been linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven technical director for some time now. Now Sky Sports are suggesting a move is definitely on for the Dutchman. The report claims that Brands will join Everton later this month, once the side have won the Eredivisie championship. It is suggested PSV have a replacement lined up and the move will be discussed at a board meeting later this afternoon.

Such news will no doubt excite Everton fans. The Dutchman has a fine reputation in the game and, after feeling unimpressed with Steve Walsh’s work at Goodison Park, Evertonians will no doubt welcome Brands’ arrival. The fact his agent is Mino Raiola adds an extra incentive, with the report stating Everton’s owner Farhad Moshiri is very keen for a link up with both men.

Brands and Raiola as a double threat would undoubtedly be a good move for Everton and could attract some of the best talent around.

But here’s the rub. Whilst Sky Sports is reporting this move as done, the media in the Netherlands are simply baffled.

As reported by Football-Oranje journalists from major Dutch publications Voetbal International and De Telegraaf have taken to social media to insist no deal is anywhere near done.

One claims there has been no contact from Everton regarding Brands as of yet and the other made it clear there is no planned meeting regarding his successor today.

Brands is a target for Everton it seems but the idea an agreement is now in place seems to be a little ahead of the game.

Toffees fans excited about the arrival of Brands should probably wait until he is standing in front of an Everton badge shaking hands with Moshiri before getting their hopes up regarding his plans for the club.
