Many Rangers fans react as Daniel Candeias departs

Daniel Candeias has officially left Rangers to join Turkish club Genclerbirligi.

The Portuguese leaves Ibrox after two years, and has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with his new club.

With Steven Gerrard having recruited three new wingers in Sheyi Ojo, Jordan Jones and Jake Hastie, speculation had been rife about Candeias’ future as a Rangers player.

The Pedro Caixinha signing made 97 appearances for the club and contributed 14 goals and 25 assists.

A Rangers statement said: “We thank Daniel for his time at Rangers and wish him all the best for the future.”

The writing appeared to be on the wall for Candeias when he was recently left out of the Europa League squad to face St. Joseph’s.

Two goals against Marseille though had many fans hoping the rumours about an impending exit were false.

Many Rangers fans were fairly sad to read that Candeias has been moved on.

A lot feel as though the 31-year-old was often unfairly made a scapegoat.
