Many Leeds United fans magnanimous as Sheffield United surely secure promotion

Whilst not mathematical, Sheffield United have essentially secured their well-deserved promotion to the Premier League this evening. The Blades defeated Ipswich Town 2-0 and with their excellent goal difference, it appears they will be heading to the top-flight automatically with Norwich City also achieving that feat.

It is no doubt very painful for Leeds United fans.

The Whites have been in the running for the automatic places throughout the season but now appear to have come up short to their Yorkshire rivals.

Leeds now go into their game with Aston Villa tomorrow, which many hoped would be a day for celebration, as a potential dress rehearsal for the play-offs.

Leeds fans, on the whole, have actually reacted quite positively to the Blades’ success.

Many fans on Twitter were magnanimous in their defeat at the hands of Chris Wilder’s excellent Sheffield United team…

Leeds have fought valiantly throughout the season but have been found wanting of the top two at the last hurdle. Fans must now get behind their players ahead of a tough fight in the play-offs. They can start by cheering their team to an impressive result against 10-game winning streak Aston Villa.
