Everton have reportedly held an ‘informal meeting’ with Unai Emery as a possible replacement for Marco Silva following the Spaniard’s Arsenal sacking – and Everton fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news.
Sky Sports have claimed that Everton are interested in Emery and a meeting was held in London. However, it is believe Emery has requested more time to make a decision on his future – though he is keen to return to football management soon.
Emery was sacked by Arsenal last month after a string of poor perfomances. The Gunners are still without a Premier League win in two months, with Freddie Ljungberg failing to beat Brighton and Norwich since replacing the Spaniard.
The Mail have claimed there is a seven-man shortlist – other than Emery – in with a chance of taking over at Goodison park. They are Mauricio Pochettino, Carlo Ancelotti, Ralf Rangnick, Leonardo Jardim, Eddie Howe, David Moyes and Vitor Pereira.
Duncan Ferguson is currently in interim charge, producing a stunning performance to beat Chelsea 3-1 at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon. The Toffees looked revtialised under the Everton legend.
Everton fans have reacted to the reported news on Twitter, with some backing the appointment of Emery given that the Spaniard has starred in earlier spells as a manager – winning three Europa League titles and a Ligue 1.
