Many at Arsenal believe that there is one stalwart of Mikel Arteta’s side who does not receive anything like the full credit he deserves.

Arsenal remain in the Premier League title mix this season, moving to within two points of the summit after their win over Liverpool last weekend.

One member of the team who has barely missed a minute since the opening month of the campaign has been Gabriel Magalhaes. The Brazilian has been excellent alongside William Saliba at the heart of the Arsenal defence.

Of course, Saliba is often the headline-grabber of the two defenders. The Frenchman looks to have an amazing future ahead of him.

But it seems that plenty behind the scenes at London Colney believe that his teammate deserves a lot more praise.

According to a report from The Telegraph, many at Arsenal believe that Gabriel Magalhaes does not get the credit he deserves.

Brazilian’s importance is starting to become abundantly clear

There is definitely an argument that several do not fully respect how integral Gabriel is to the current Arsenal side. Certainly, there is a reason that he is likely to make his 150th appearance for the club in just his fourth season later today when Arsenal face West Ham.

The Telegraph reports that he cost around £25 million when he signed from Lille. And in today’s game, that has to go down as an absolute steal.

Gabriel only turned 26 last month. So there is no reason why he cannot remain at the very highest level for years to come, particularly as Saliba is a few years younger than him, too.

You can understand why Arsenal feel that Gabriel has not got the full credit that he has earned during his time in North London.

But it does feel as though many more are starting to recognise just how important he is to the Gunners.
