Mangala would add much-needed depth for Nuno at Wolves

According to a report by The Sun, Wolverhampton Wanderers will consider a move for Eliaquim Mangala next summer.

Mangala is out of contract at Manchester City when the season ends and his chances of earning an extension are slim.

Pep Guardiola has frozen Mangala out with plenty of other options ahead of him in the pecking order.

And the 27-year-old last played a competitive game in February when on loan at Everton.

Wolves will face competition from Inter Milan in their pursuit of Mangala, who will become a free agent at the end of the season.

But with Mangala reportedly preferring to stay in England, Wolves should be encouraged.

On a free transfer, Mangala is exactly the type of player who can add some much-needed depth to Wolves’ defensive options.

Nuno Espirito Santo likes to play with three central defenders with Willy Boly, Ryan Bennett and Conor Coady assuming those spots this season.

But he has limited options in reserve and as Wolves look to progress next season, they need a bigger squad.

Mangala needs a fresh start but he is at a good age for a centre-half and with regular playing time, he can get his career back on track.

Signing the ex-France international on a free transfer would be a relatively low-risk move from Nuno and it would add competition for places at the back.
