This summer transfer window is going to be so crucial for Manchester United.

The Red Devils are going through their worst period in a generation, and, simply put, something needs to change.

Luckily, the summer transfer window is on the horizon, and that offers a chance to rebuild and reset the squad.

United already have some exciting targets in mind. Matheus Cunha has been linked to United, while Ruben Amorim could re-sign Angel Gomes too.

Now, another intriguing transfer link has emerged, as according to Miguel Delaney, writing in his newsletter for The Independent, Manchester United would be keen to sign Cole Palmer if a deal was possible.

Manchester United would like to sign Cole Palmer

Delaney shared what he knows about United and their summer transfer plans.

According to the journalist, United would be very much willing to go for Cole Palmer this summer, but they acknowledge a deal is impossible.

There was some chat earlier this year about Cole Palmer potentially leaving Chelsea, but United don’t seem to believe a deal is possible.

Palmer is Chelsea’s best player, so, understandably, the Blues wouldn’t be keen to sell.

“Manchester United would be perfectly willing to make Cole Palmer a target if there was any hint of a move, but they’re aware that’s virtually impossible. Hence the advance on Matheus Cunha at Wolves,” Delaney wrote.”

“United will definitely sign a midfielder and forward… should other trading allow, not to mention Champions League qualification. The Old Trafford hierarchy have a bigger list if they do win the Europa League.”

What Cole Palmer has said about Manchester United.

Cole Palmer to Manchester United may not happen this summer, but don’t be surprised if this is a rumour that persists for years to come.

Indeed, the £40m man is one of the Premier League’s top talents, and the Chelsea star has made it no secret that he does have an affinity for Manchester United.

Speaking to Sky Sports earlier this year, Palmer admitted that he grew up as a United fan.

“When I do go back to the stadium it’s good because I used to go and watch matches there,” Palmer said.

Palmer would later named Wayne Rooney as his idol, admitting he supported United: “Obviously I supported United and he was probably the best player when I was watching them.”

Speaking to TalkSPORT last year, Palmer would again admit that he supported United.

“Who did you want to emulate in the playground when you were growing up?” Palmer was asked.

“Wayne Rooney, because I was a United fan when I was younger and I used to watch him all the time,” Palmer said.

Palmer would potentially be keen on this move if the option was there, but, for now, it appears as though that door is firmly closed.
