It doesn’t seem two minutes since the January transfer window slammed shut but certain clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United are already planning for the summer it seems.
Neither the Gunners or United strengthened in January. Arsenal, in particular, were left frustrated in their attempts to bring in new talent as the likes of Dusan Vlahovic and Alexander Isak evaded them. However, the Gunners haven’t given up hope of landing a new striker just yet.
One of the names mentioned in relation to Arsenal is Everton ace, Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Reports in the window had claimed Arsenal saw ‘DCL’ as the ideal signing, albeit he could cost around the £60m mark. But according to The Sun, if Arsenal do want to land Calvert-Lewin, then they might have to fight off Manchester United.

According to The Sun, United have put the Everton and England striker on a list of potential options. The Red Devils are thought to be considering a new striker, with players like Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and now, Calvert-Lewin, all mentioned.
Calvert-Lewin has impressed at Goodison Park in the last few seasons. After initially struggling to get going since his arrival from Sheffield United, his form has led another Everton striker, Salomon Rondon, to declare how Calvert-Lewin is an ‘amazing striker’ in the past.
TBR’s View: Calvert-Lewin A Man In-Demand
And it’s not surprising, really. There is a feeling around Calvert-Lewin that he might be ready to make the jump from Everton to chance his arm with a regular European challenger.
A move to United would be intriguing. Certainly, he fits the style if Ralf Rangnick remains around, given his work-ethic and willingness to press. The big question mark would be around is he as prolific as those other names mentioned?
For Arsenal, this is just another nightmare scenario. It seems whenever they want a top player, someone else is watching on. This time, in the form of a giant of the game in Manchester United.
