After his superb man of the match performance for Tottenham last night sparked faint hopes of a Manchester United title challenge, the Daily Mail, cited by the Manchester Evening News, claim that Dele Alli is subject to interest from the Red Devils who could launch a summer bid for the England international.
Alli has shone for Spurs since his £5 million move from MK Dons to Tottenham and now has over 50 Premier League appearances under his belt, rapidly becoming one of the brightest young talents of his generation. A move to United may now be his opportunity to push on to the next level.
However, Nice have become the latest club to drop out of the running for unwanted winger Memphis Depay as their president Jean Pierre Rivere explained:
“We looked at him, like a lot of clubs have, but it is extremely complicated… It is a situation which is out of our financial reach. You have a club that bought him for a certain amount that wants to sell him. When we looked at Depay, it was in another way, which is not possible today. He was bought very expensively by Manchester United, they want to possibly sell him and we cannot compete in this sort of situation.”
The Dutchman has been hugely disappointing since his move from PSV last summer and is now expected to leave after failing to impress Jose Mourinho, but as of yet no suitor has been found.
A legend could return to Old Trafford as the Manchester Evening News claim that Patrice Evra is desperate to complete a return to the city where he became a huge hit winning numerous titles over a lengthy spell at the club before departing under David Moyes’ management.
Now at Juventus, the 35-year-old has featured just 13 times so far this campaign and may force a move if United are interested, with the Frenchman keen to end his career at Old Trafford where he may interest Mourinho as an experienced option in defence.
