Tottenham forward Harry Kane has been recommended as Manchester United’s next big signing, as he inched ever closer to Jimmy Greaves’ record.
Kane got the winning goal against Portsmouth in the FA Cup today to bring him within one of Greaves. It’s a record he will surpass with ease, with Alan Shearer’s all time PL record also in his sights as well.

However, the question of whether he’ll score those goals for Tottenham is coming up again. And after missing out on a move to Manchester City last year, former Sunderland winger Nicky Summerbee now believes Kane is the final piece of the jigsaw on the other side of Manchester with United.
“He deserves it (to be top scorer). He’s a goalscoring machine and he’s done it for many seasons. Even when he’s come back from the World Cup and had a bit of criticism, he’s just interested in scoring goals,” Summerbee said on BEIN Sports today.
“Now I’ll say something off key here. But if I’m Manchester United now I’d go and get him. I think he rounds Manchester United off. I think at a certain point he has to start winning trophies. He’s been loyal to Tottenham.”
TBR’s View: Kane can fly for Manchester United
He’s been tipped for United in the past but you have to say, now that Erik ten Hag seems to have got them going again, this could be a big chance for Kane to win.
Alan Shearer famously never signed for United and with it, missed out on a bucket load of trophies at Old Trafford.
Kane faces a big decision this summer. Yes, Tottenham are doing ok under Antonio Conte. But there remains uncertainty over that as well and Kane will be wondering if he can keep leaving things.
Kane would shine with Man United. And in a way, he could be the one to take them back to the very top level.
