The Sun claim that Manchester United stars set to lose out big time if they miss out on a place in the top four, with a reported 25% wage cut for all players if they miss out on a Champions League place. That has already come into effect for the players who finished fifth last season but could now impact on the likes of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, some of the club’s top earners.

It would mean that Pogba would see his wage cut by over £70,000 per week, and Ibrahimovic’s cut by £55,000 per week according to these reports.

However, finances are clearly not the top priority for all as the Manchester Evening News report that Ashley Young has decided against a move to China, wanting to keep his family settled in England. With 18 months left on his current contract, his United future is unclear but Jose Mourinho is believed to be keen to keep him at the club until the end of the season.

Everton, Watford, Swansea and West Brom have also shown an interest in the 31-year-old, who has played only a bit-part role in the first team this season, but it seems that any exit will be delayed until the summer.

The Telegraph, on the other hand, suggest that Bastian Schweinsteiger could be the next player to leave the club as talks progress with various MLS sides over a potential move to the United States. Schweinsteiger has previously stated that his next move will not be in Europe with the USA the most likely destination.

Surprisingly, the German has been afforded a second chance on the very fringes of the squad over the last couple of months, and Jose Mourinho is reportedly not against the World Cup winner staying at the club until the summer.
