After rumours that Jose Mourinho could be prepared to sell Luke Shaw in the summer after the left back has failed to earn regular first team football under the new manager, Yahoo Sports claim that Tottenham could make a move for the youngster if he is made available.
For United, such a move could open the door to a potential swap deal involving Danny Rose, a player who they have been heavily linked with previously. For Shaw, it would allow him the opportunity to join his former manager at Southampton, Mauricio Pochettino, to help him get his career back on track.
Atletico Madrid have dismissed speculation linking star man Antoine Griezmann with a move to Old Trafford as club president, Enrique Cerezo, told Spanish radio station Cope, quoted by the Manchester Evening News and Marca:
“Manchester United? Small team. I believe in the contracts that people sign, that goes for [Diego] Simeone and Griezmann… Every time I see Antoine I give him a hug. Antoine is a fantastic player and loves life at Atletico. I don’t know what Manchester United’s interest is. But Griezmann will be at Atletico for a long time.”
The French international is believed to be one of the club’s top targets for the summer as they seek to add quality and firepower to get them into the top four.
An alternative could be French striker Alexandre Lacazette, who has so far managed a goal per game in Ligue Une this season. Such speculation has been fuelled after Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas told reporters, quoted by Bleacher Report and the Daily Mail, that he would be open to such a deal, saying:
“If Barcelona or Manchester United one day make an offer commensurate with what Alex is worth to our club, no one will stand in its way. Alex has wanted to play in a great club, and Lyon does not object. We are perfectly in line.”
The French international has been in prolific form and has been linked with Premier League clubs Arsenal and West Ham previously.
