Sky Sports claim that Manchester United have entered into talks with Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic with a £36 million deal likely to be agreed in the coming weeks with both clubs keen to see the Croatian international make the move. The 28-year-old has scored ten goals and made ten assists in 41 games this season.
The pacey winger has earned plaudits for his displays since joining from Wolfsburg in 2015 but now faces an exit from the club as the San Siro outfit look to step up their plans to revamp the squad, with the sale of Perisic likely to fund a spending spree by the new owners of the club.
There are rumours speculating that Wayne Rooney could be on his way out too, but he could remain in the Premier League as the Mirror say that Mark Hughes’ Stoke City have emerged as surprise contenders for the club captain’s signature in a move that would follow Michael Owen in making the switch towards the end of his career.
With offers from China and the USA, Rooney faces a tough decision this summer and could still opt to see out the remaining year of his £300,000 per week contract at Old Trafford which includes an option for a further year if he could somehow work his way back into Jose Mourinho’s first team plans.
It looks increasingly likely that Rooney will not be replaced by Antoine Griezmann as Metro quote Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo as revealing that the Frenchman is going nowhere after the last ever game at their stadium, the Vicente Calderon, on Saturday night. Cerezo said:
“Will Griezmann be here? Well, no, he will be in the Wanda Metropolitano [Atletico’s new stadium]. He is going to be in the Wanda Metropolitano.”
The forward has hinted that he could make a move to Manchester but his future remains uncertain with the Spanish club bound to do all they can to retain the services of their star man and top goalscorer.
