One of the most in-demand young players in Europe has given Manchester United a massive boost as Atlanta’s commanding 20-year-old midfielder Franck Kessie is quoted by the Evening Standard as telling fans at a meet and greet session that he dreams of playing for the club as he said:
“I like the Premier League and in particular Manchester United, the club I dream of playing for. [Chelsea] is also a big club, nobody would turn them down, but I dream of United.”
The Ivory Coast international has been likened to Yaya Toure in his home country but has shown his defensive steel with strength and bite in the tackle a key part of his game. A penalty expert too, Kessie’s quality and perceived experience belies his age.
However, few players in England come more experienced than Ashley Young, who discussed speculation surrounding his future after the win over Saint-Etienne in the Europa League as he told the press, as reported by Manchester Evening News:
“I am concentrating on my football. I am here at United for the rest of the season and another year, so I am concentrating on everything here. I am a player who wants to play week in, week out. Every player in the squad wants to play. Whenever called upon, I have just got to go out there, 110 per cent, and play as well as I can.”
Young was linked with a move away to another Premier League club or even a move to China in January, but has remained put at Old Trafford and now seems keen to see out the two years left on his existing contract.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was not on the scoresheet for Jose Mourinho’s side in France but the Sun claim that he has secured himself a substantial bonus after scoring more than 20 goals in his debut season in Manchester having joined on a free transfer last summer.
The Swede has surprised many with his performances and superb form, despite a short drought earlier on in the season, and many are now hoping that he will decide to stay at the club next season after rumours that he could depart.
