Manchester United round-up: Rooney could be sold next week; Italian striker linked; beaten to target by Liverpool

Wayne Rooney could be set to make his last appearance for Manchester United, if reports in the Telegraph prove to be correct. They claim that clubs from China believe that a deal could still be achieved before the transfer deadline for the Chinese Super League which falls a week on Tuesday.

Jose Mourinho has hinted that the club do not wish to sell until the summer, but if Rooney is keen on a move then they are unlikely to stand in his way with the club captain proving to be little more than a bit-part player for much of this season since falling out of favour.

The club could be looking to Italy for a replacement, as Transfer Market Web say that they are one of seven clubs to be tracking Torino striker Andrea Belotti. The 23-year-old has scored 19 goals in 23 games in all competitions this season for the Serie A team, sparking interest from across the continent.

However, with an £83 million release clause in place in a contract which still has four years left to run, it seems unlikely that Belotti will be heading to Manchester United anytime soon, even in spite of his fine form earning a breakthrough into the Italian national team.

There is less positive news for the club as the Liverpool Echo report that Liverpool are close to securing a deal for 16-year-old Yasser Larouci. The youngster came through the ranks at Le Havre, who have previously developed the likes of Paul Pogba, Riyad Mahrez, and Dimitri Payet, but turned down a contract at the French club despite captaining their under 16s side. Previously targeted by United and taken on trial by Southampton, Larouci had been praised for his pressing and work rate, and undoubtedly would have fit in well had he joined United.
