Manchester United already have a pre-contract agreement in place with Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, according to TuttoMercatoWeb. The Swedish international was heavily linked with a January move to the club but that never materialised, with a summer move seemingly still a possibility.
It is now believed that Roma are considering a move for the central defender, but with such an agreement reportedly in place, they are unlikely to have much success in their efforts to take him to Italy.
Speculation linking Zlatan Ibrahimovic with a move to Napoli continues to surge and it has now been further fueled by the words of club president Aurelio De Laurentiis in an interview with Napoli Today, as quoted and translated by the Express and Goal:
“My dream signing? I always try to go forward with what I have. But the one I would like though is that giant who is at Manchester United now. I had him as a dinner guest in Los Angeles and he’s incredibly nice, even though he always seems angry. You know the one I’m talking about, right?”
Zlatan’s agent, Mino Raiola, has previously spoken of how the Swede would consider a move to the Italian club in the future and it is unclear at present whether Ibrahimovic will be at Old Trafford next season.
The same could be said of another player as Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he won’t field Luke Shaw in tonight’s Europa League clash against St. Etienne, as the left-back continues to be excluded. Mourinho told the press:
“He’s not playing tomorrow because my team is playing well. I am happy with my back four, and I’m going to repeat Valencia, Bailly, Smalling and Daley Blind. The only thing I can say is that Luke is working well. I don’t have any problem and he’s working well. He’s fighting hard, there is no problem with him. He has to work and wait. But I want one defender on the bench and the defender on the bench is somebody who can play more than one position.”
The youngster has been excluded since November and has made just two appearances in 2017 as it seems increasingly likely that his future lies elsewhere.
