AS claim that Manchester United are preparing to try to bring Colombian defender Jeison Murillo to the club, alongside similar efforts from Arsenal and Real Madrid, with Inter Milan desperate to tie the 24-year-old down on a new deal to ward off interest from abroad in his services.
The central defender is now in his second season since completing a £6.8 million move from Granada in Spain and is now enjoying life at the San Siro more than ever, with superb form showing his tough tackling and strong aerial abilities which have clearly caught the eye.
Another player to be linked is Bordeaux winger Malcolm, with Metro quoting his reaction to interest that has been reported in the 19-year-old from Old Trafford as he said:
“This thing about Liverpool (and) Manchester – I don’t know anything about it. I’m very calm, I only think about Bordeaux today. I want to do my job well and give French fans lots of joy. I got to know, yeah, that Sampaoli (Sevilla boss) likes my football, my game style. If the opportunity shows up, I’ll be happy. If it doesn’t, I’ll keep working hard, humble as always.”
The Brazilian is in demand after catching the eye with his pace on the right flank, having scored six goals in 30 games so far this season, and can play anywhere across a front three so his versatility could be well valued by Jose Mourinho.
One player who must be feeling highly undervalued by the former Real Madrid boss is Luke Shaw, who has not even made the bench for a Premier League fixture since October, but Mourinho remains adamant that he will not be sold as he told the press, as quoted by the Daily Mail:
“What I think is that he had a very ugly injury, really ugly, that affects players not only from the physical point but also the mental impact. He has had a couple of small injuries this season and needs to adapt. He knows what I like in a defender, he knows that I like stability, that I don’t like mistakes, that for me it is to trust a player totally and he has to work to get it. And when he is on the pitch again he has to try to give me that step by step because he is still only a young player… He will be here for sure. It (leaving) is out of the question.”
The 21-year-old may not accept such a role on the fringe of his squad for much longer, having played 90 minutes in the FA Cup against Wigan in his only other appearance since November.
