Antoine Griezmann has seemingly cast a potential move to Manchester United in doubt after revealing that he is not convinced by the opportunity to move to England. He told RMC, as translated by the Mirror and the Express:
“I have a lot of doubts about moving to England. With Real Sociedad, I felt that I needed to leave. For the moment, I do not know where that desire came from. Who knows how the season will finish. If it finishes badly, maybe I will ask myself the question. For the moment, it is not relevant… Aside from that, I am asking myself where I could go. In Spain, there is Barcelona and Real Madrid. Barcelona have the three up top. Real Madrid, that is impossible because of the club I am at. I think that between them, there is a pact. Germany, the league does not attract me much. France, not for the moment. And England, I have a lot of doubts about my private life. Everything like rain, bad weather… I need to feel happy outside.”
The Frenchman had just one touch in the penalty box for Atletico Madrid in their weekend win against Celta Vigo, bubt it was crucial as he scored an injury time winner as his side came from behind to steal the three points.
He may not have been considered had a summer move been completed though, as Bayern Munich finance director Jans-Christian Dreeson told Bild that the club rejected an offer in the region of £85 million for forward Thomas Muller. Jose Mourinho was reportedly keen to bring the German in during the summer, but the Munich club rejected any chance of a sale.
Muller has not been a regular for the club this season, with his style of play not proving a ready made fit for Carlo Ancelotti’s system with the Bundesliga side, but it seems unlikely that the club will go back in for him.
Michael Carrick is seemingly close to an announcement on his future, with his existing contract set to expire in the summer, claim the Mirror. Pictures on Instagram, as reported by the Manchester Evening News, suggest that he is preparing to make his future clear, though the Mirror suggest that an announcement regarding a testimonial game is more likely.
Jose Mourinho is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding the future of the experienced midfielder, but his performances this season have impressed many United fans.
