Despite ongoing speculation, the Manchester Evening News say that Jose Mourinho has ruled out a potential move for Monaco versatility player Fabinho. The Brazilian, who can play at right-back or in midfield, had been strongly linked with a reunion with Jose Mourinho after they worked together in Madrid.
It seems a bizarre move given the quality of Fabinho, but Monaco have made it clear that they do not want to lose all of their best talents this summer and may have set their asking price too high. Given United’s priorities this summer, they may now look elsewhere to attract other options.
One player who does seem likely to join is Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, after the striker’s agent Juanma Lopez spoke to Italian outlet Calciomercato and responded to questions over a potential move to Manchester, by saying:
“It’s a club with a lot charm – a very interesting option. I can say that there’s a very important offer and the decision now rests with Real. I cannot tell (if an agreement is close). We’ll see. I can confirm there had been regular contact (with Milan) until a few days ago. Quite simply, Real Madrid considered the offer from the Rossoneri unsatisfactory.”
The Spaniard failed to establish himself as first choice throughout the season at the Bernabeu after wing brought back to the club after several years at Juventus in Serie A. As such, the Spanish international could now head to Old Trafford in search of regular first team football.
He could be supported by Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic too, as the Independent report that a deal bringing the Croatian to Manchester is close. Talks have reportedly been ongoing for some time, and the 28-year-old could finally be close to sealing a switch to the Premier League.
Having made a success of his time at Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga and Inter in Serie A, in recent years, he will be hopeful and confident of making a quick adaptation to life in the Premier League, if he does indeed make the move.
